Sir David Attenborough (well-known science broadcaster and presenter, and Honorary Fellow of the Society), Dr Ceri Harrop (postdoctoral researcher and science communicator, University of Manchester) and Sir Paul Nurse (President of the Rockefeller University, New York) each spoke from their experience of the challenges facing the biosciences today.

Nancy Rothwell presented Sir Paul Nurse with an Honorary Fellowship, and guests enjoyed the opportunity to meet and talk at the reception that followed.
